Pinterest

I've been using Pinterest since high school. I've always been into DIY projects and I'm constantly looking for inspiration. Whether I need inspiration on home decor or nail designs, Pinterest is my go-to. Back then, I was not using the app to showcase my work, I would just repost (pin) ideas. Then, one day, four years ago, I decided to cut my hair into a bob and posted the results on the app. I wasn't monitoring how well the pin was doing, but I would have friends send me that same picture, but on different sites. I checked on the pin to see how well it was doing and was surprised that people were actually saving it. From there, I would post pictures here and there, mainly of my nails, but nothing consistently. It wasn't until last year that I started to take Pinterest a little more seriously.

Around May of 2021, Pinterest introduced "idea pins," a new way for creators to build their presence and grow their audience on the app. Idea pins allows people with business accounts to create high quality content (pictures and videos), that can be saved directly to the app. To make creation of idea pins easier, Pinterest added more features such as voice over recording, music, text, exportation options and more.

Around September of last year, I started to post my client videos on Pinterest as idea pins. At the time, I only had about 80 followers and 12k monthly views, but my idea pins were gaining so much traffic. After posting more of my work consistently, my monthly views started to increase and by December, I had I had around 30k monthly views.

Fast forward to today, after posting not only my clients, but myself as well, I now have 114 followers and 77k monthly views. My top pin is a pic of my nails I posted last year, which has around 38k impressions and 260 saves. I must say, gaining followers on Pinterest is hard, but I noticed as my audience grows, so does my followers. This is what keeps me motivated, knowing that I'm reaching a bigger audience day by day. My goal is to have 100k monthly views. I wrote down that I would like to obtain this goal in about 3-4 months, not realizing how fast my monthly views grow. So 100k in about 1-2 months is attainable.

If you're looking for a sign to start taking Pinterest more seriously, here's your sign! Whether you're into fashion, or you love to cook, Pinterest is definitely the platform to share your work on and grow your audience.
